June 2005 Archives
- total number of books I've owned: I wouldn’t say 1000 I would maybe say like 6 or 700 but I’m sure there have been a whole lot that has passed through these big mitts. Mostly fiction; gritty underbelly stuff and drug-addled dark, dark stuff. Don’t know why but I dig it. Also some horror handed down from my Moms (who had over 1,000 books and read us horror when we were young) and some Sci-Fi stuff which I didn’t really like.
- The last book I bought: Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk (still can’t pronounce his last name) which I have yet to read. I have a queue of books ready for me to read so I had to stop buying books.
- the last book i read: Perv: a love story by Jerry Stahl you might know him as the writer for ALF. Permanent Midnight is his life story, good stuff.
- five books that mean a lot to me (in no particular order):
A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole (genius) can almost call me Ignatius,
the Rum Diaries by Hunter S Thompson, fun on the run in the sun in Puerto Rico
Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, I want to have a wolf suit too.
Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk by Legs McNeil one of the few Non-fiction books I’ve read I freaking dig this book a lot.
High Fidelity by Nick Hornby, A book about woman and music obsessions, broken hearts and eardrums, god I can totally relate the main character. This list should be in the book.
- Salmon's addition because it seems like an obvious question to include - what i'm reading now: Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk its not bad but not his best.
Lately I have been riding my bike to clients that are too far to walk to and too close for a subway. I am loving it. well except for today, not just an hour ago it came down like a monsoon right when I was heading home from a client. Man was that a freaking nightmare. I had to turn around and hide in the client's entrance way till it slowed down, I couldnt see and the rain actually hurt. it slowed down a bit so I decided to ride to the WTC stop of the path via the west side highway, I love it when I'm riding faster then the traffic. Wet lugo ain't a pleasent site.
Looks like the Questions are rolling is for ask@lugo-lounge.com. Well only two so far.
First question comes from J from Bank of NY, which is headquartered in NJ, go figure.
Hey, How is Jason doing down in Panama?J
Weeeell, as some of those who read the most unreadable blog in the world know, Jason is my brother who went off into the wild wild depths of the Panamanian jungle. Why, you ask? Well because he joined the Peace Corps and that is where they sent him. You can read some of his exploits here "Live from Panama".
Several months after he left I went to a friend's birthday party to discover Jason standing in the doorway. It looks like things were getting pretty bad there and was going to get worse when they were going to send him to a reservation were they didn't speak Spanish much less English. He wasn't the only one who left also. Jason is now a teacher down in south Jersey.
So there you have it, first question done. I have another one which is in several parts and I will answer them soon.
